Teammate Julie Dibens take on the Trek/K-Swiss Team

Last weekend I got the chance to escape the snow and cold in Boulder and head over to California for a few days for the Trek/Kswiss team camp. It probably couldn't have come at a better time, as the week leading up to it i had been fighting a virus of sorts. It was great to head down to sea level for a bit, fill my lungs with oxygen, and have a few easier days on the swim/bike/run front.

Many of you that follow triathlon, may have seen reports of the camp on numerous triathlon websites (xtri.com, ironman.com, triathlon.competitor.com ) All of which can give you a great insight into what went on at the camp. From my perspective it was first and foremost - alot of fun. It really is a great group of people to be involved with. There are no big ego's to get past....minus my own of course, which is so important when you try to bring a small group of professional athletes together.

Lance Armstrong's Mellow Classic Mt. Bike Race

I had a great time in Austin last weekend with Lance Armstrong and his family.  The weekend ended with my first mountain bike race.  The Mellow Classic Mt. Bike race was held on Lance's Juan Paleto Ranch.  It was a 3 lap race totaling 24 miles.  I was doing alright for 2 laps considering my lack or riding since Ironman, but the last lap I fell apart.  I have not bonked like that in years.  Racing on a mountain bike is a lot different than the long endurance days I am used to.  Should have had more for lunch before the race.  I finally found my gel I dropped on lap 2 and started to feel better.  Little late though.  It was a lot of fun and I look forward to the next race this spring.

Outside Magazine Cover

What a huge honor to be on the cover of such a great magazine.  I am excited and hope it will help draw more attention to the sport of Triathlon and Ironman as we head into the World Championships in Kona on October 10th.  Outside Magazine did something very new and shot the cover with a RED camera.  So the whole shoot was on video, and will be used to showcase the cover and the inside spread like a living magazine.  Like in Harry Potter how the newspaper comes to life.  Keep an eye out and come back and check it out.
